Focus and Attention Management at Work (EB009) addresses one of the most critical challenges in today’s workplace—maintaining focus in an environment filled with constant distractions. As highlighted in the course preface, a lack of attention leads to wasted time, reduced productivity, and increased errors. Managing attention effectively is therefore essential for both individual performance and organisational success.
This programme introduces learners to the science and application of attention management, beginning with an understanding of how attention works and the different types such as focused, sustained, selective, and alternating attention. It also explores how attention is influenced by emotions, environment, and cognitive processes.
Learners will develop practical strategies to improve focus, including goal setting, meditation, visualization, and structured planning. Models such as the Attention Zones Model help individuals identify whether they are working proactively or being driven by distractions and interruptions. The course also addresses common productivity challenges such as procrastination and poor time management, providing actionable solutions to overcome them.
By the end of the programme, learners will be equipped with tools to control their attention, prioritise effectively, reduce distractions, and sustain high levels of productivity in both personal and professional settings.
